Mets game

Josh and I went to the September 7 Mets vs. Phillies game at Shea. We got tickets awhile back, excited that we'd be seeing a pretty good end-of-season matchup between two teams who had a lot to lose! Not to mention in their final season at Shea. Josh's mom was all set to watch Ben for the day, and we were really looking forward to spending an entire day not only without baby responsibility, but alone. Just the two of us. We haven't had that in, well, at least 8 months. So anyway.

ESPN, or Major League Baseball, who knows who, decided to make the 1 o'clock game the ESPN game of the week... which meant it had to start at 8 pm instead of 1 pm. We were pretty devastated when we realized that the bus trip wouldn't return to the Binghamton area until about 3 am. And although Josh's mom was willing, we just didn't feel like we could ask someone to watch Ben for that long, overnight, when she had to work the next morning.

She convinced us. We went. It was awesome.

We saw Johan Santana (pictured above, and no, that's not my picture... it's his Wikipedia profile) pitch a great game, watched one of the Carloses (I can't keep them straight) hit a couple out, and well, the Mets won. They went into the series up by 3 games. After losing the first two of the weekend, they really needed a win, and it was fun to be there to see it! The Phillies/Mets fans matchup was pretty entertaining, too... you gotta figure, at a night game on a school night, there weren't as many family-oriented folks as there may have been if the game were played at its originally scheduled time.

Good times were had by all.
