Mmmm. Quesadillas!

My brother is a better cook than I am.

How did that happen? I have no idea. Actually, I take that back; I have a good idea. I think it's in who we married. Ha! His spouse is very creative and eats a lot of different kinds of foods. My spouse, though creative, eats within a narrow category of meats and side dishes. I can't say that I blame him because I have my own preferences too, but it does make it difficult to mix things up when you get bored with the same meals over and over again.

So I appeal to my brother. He's the creator (co-creator?) of this delicious thought: Philly cheesesteak pizza. Mmmm. We didn't try that one, but we did make Philly cheesesteaks, and we wouldn't have dreamed them up without reading his post on the pizza (http://sjaustin.blogspot.com/2005/10/mmmphilly-cheesesteak-pizza.html). So today he gave me a new suggestion: For gosh sakes, Beth, make yourself a gosh-darned quesadilla! Yum. His suggestion was the black bean variety, which I immediately tailored to this family's preference (substitute chicken for black beans). I haven't even made them yet and they already taste good.

I should insert here that my sister-in-law is an excellent cook, and blogworthy too... just thought I'd give my brother the props today. I think he's good at a lot of things, and I think it's neat that he breaks the proverbial mold and does things like cooking. And laundry! What a guy.

:)
