Girls' weekend

I was talking with another nurse in the med room yesterday. She asked if I was working this weekend, a sort of rhetorical question because she and I work the same weekend. I surprised her with my "No, actually I'm not," and when I explained why I had switched my shifts around she was so impressed.

I'll be spending this weekend with five of my closest girlfriends from Roberts. We call it "Girls' weekend," and we try to do it every few months or so. This particular gathering is our celebration of Christmas, a little swapping tradition started a few years ago where we exchange names, pick a theme, and buy gifts for each other. There will be two of us missing, but as it stands we come from Ohio, New Jersey, and Syracuse, Rochester, and Liberty, New York. Casey wins the prize for traveling the farthest (from Ohio) at six hours.

I have always thought it was neat that we keep in touch at least enough to see each other a few times a year, but it wasn't until my coworker was so impressed that I realized how really rare a gathering like this is. It actually makes me feel old; the fact that we have kept in touch for almost SIX YEARS after graduation is more impressive than, say, one or two years.

So I will be weekending with the girls. Pictures to follow.

"Girls' Weekend," that is an incredibly original name!

Have fun...

Well, thank you. Thank you very much. It's sort of like how we called the evening service at SPCN "Night Church."

I'm very clever.
