Well, I'm officially home for the holidays... and all the other days, too, come to think of it. After a follow-up BP check at the office yesterday, they decided to take me out of work for the rest of the pregnancy.
Good? Bad? Mixed. I think it was time, for sure. My body was no longer recuperating between shifts, despite the fact that my gracious coworkers had opted to make me permanent charge nurse (where I sat at the desk instead of running around on the floors). I won't miss the short-staffed holiday I was expecting on Thanksgiving - they're even shorter now - but given the fact that I'm not likely to return to work for the next several years, it was kind of a too-quick exit for my taste.
The silver lining on yesterday's "cloud" is that Josh and I had spent the day Christmas shopping, and we are about two-thirds of the way done. I might actually get to spend some of this holiday season baking cookies and pies (but there's no guarantees; don't get your hopes up yet, family). As long as I can squeeze in my three 1-hr rest periods per day, the world is my oyster.
I'll be 34 weeks on Monday.

Whoo-hoo! No work! :)
And Happy Thanksgiving!
Good for you being done with work! It must be in some ways a huge relief. Thats so nice that you're co-workers let you be charge... do you have charge with no patients? I wish we had no patients when we were charge.
Yeah, on the day shift you don't have to have patients when you're in charge, unless we are really short (and then anything goes). When we are in charge we are responsible for keeping an eye on the 28 telemetry monitors... so it's really hard to do that and manage a patient group too. Lucky for me I never had to do both! :)
