Well, the latest anyway.
I had my 38-week prenatal appointment yesterday afternoon. My blood pressure was an amazing 102/66! That's good news. My blood work from the previous week was either stable or better than the week before, including the amount of protein in my urine - which continues to go DOWN. That's great news. And I have been feeling really good lately. In fact, I told Josh on Sunday, "I don't think this kid is coming out anytime soon!" Ha ha.
After another (reactive) non-stress test, the midwife told me that given my diagnosis of pre-eclampsia, however mild, protocol suggests induction at 38 weeks. She asked how I felt about that. I think if I had been 38 weeks two weeks ago, I would have said "Where do I sign?" But given the improvement in my lab work and the fact that I've been feeling good lately, I am in no rush to evict this little guy. I said, "If you feel comfortable that I'm OK, and he's OK, and my labs and BPs have been good... I'd kind of like to wait and see if he comes on his own." She said she feels very comfortable with where I'm at right now, with the caution that pre-eclampsia can progress very quickly. She encouraged me to call if I start to feel crummy or if I have any of the red flag signs and symptoms of worsening pre-eclampsia. I can check my blood pressure at home, and of course we will continue with the NSTs (non-stress tests) and blood work and urine collection weekly. I am also scheduled for another biophysical profile (ultrasound) next week, to keep tabs on the boy's welfare in his current residence...
All of that said, I have a "just in case" appointment to be induced on January 2, assuming I don't go into labor on my own before then. My official due date is 12/31, so I'd be just over 40 weeks at that point. I'd really like to believe that my little man will make his appearance in his own time, and preferably sooner than the second of January!
And that's the update from here. :)

Little girl, about 30 years ago, your mom was at about the same stage as you are today. She was preparing to deliver your brother. Little did we know that two years later, the genesis of "boy baby Kresge" would begin to break the horizon. Mom and I have watched you grow from "sunshine smile" to your first day of kindergarten to amazing successes with virtually everything you touched. But the academic awards, scholarships, all-star selections, and MVPs pale in the light of the heroic nine months you are about to conclude. Mom and I were quite concerned when we first heard of your physical condition. Perhaps "scared" is a better word. We did all we could do...pray...every day, sometimes several times a day, that God would not let anything happen to our little girl and her package. God heard those prayers, and just as you and Josh are about to wrap your arms around your little boy, God did the same with us.
Thank you, Lord, for Beth, Josh, and the soon-to-be-named boy Kresge!
See you all real SOON!
How cute is your dad. I can't believe your due date is so soon. How about another belly picture :)
