The long-awaited update

Hello loyal readers... :)

As I am sure you all know, because of Uncle Scott's fabulous post, Josh and I are finally parents! My pre-eclampsia took a fairly sudden turn in the wrong direction the weekend before Christmas, and my midwife recommended moving up my date of induction to the evening of December 26. That night was intended for softening and ripening of the cervix (they gave me a medication to do this), and the plan was to induce labor with Pitocin on the morning of the 27th. Well, my body decided that it had waited long enough, and I went into labor on my own after the first dose of the cervix-softening drug. My baby boy was born about nine hours later!

Benjamin Tyler Kresge was born at 9:55 on the morning of December 27. He weighed 7 lbs, 14 oz, and was 21 inches long. He is the most beautiful little boy I have ever seen! We finally got to come home yesterday afternoon. I'll tell you all about why we were there so long.... some other time. For now, enjoy the pictures in the post below.
