Lately I have been thinking a lot about motherhood, and all the transition that goes along with that. Pregnancy was trying in its own ways, delivery was obviously difficult... but then, all of a sudden - you are a mom. And although you've never done anything LIKE it before, you are suddenly promoted to CEO of Motherhood, Inc.; not only do you need to be proficient immediately, but you also need to be able to direct the care of your child when he or she is in the care of others. And the most overwhelming part is that it is a job from which you will never retire. A job from which you can never take vacation. You can't even get three blessed hours of sleep in a row, at first.
There is nothing else like this on earth.
So, my response is this: I'm going to talk about it. I have started to compose a collection of memories from my first weeks at my new occupation, and I love it. It's taking me a good long time to compile all of my thoughts, though, because I'm writing on what the working world might call my "lunch break," i.e., when Ben is sleeping. But keep your eye out - it's coming soon.
(This was as much a warning as an appetizer... y'all might feel led to take a break from my riveting blog for awhile if you're not interested.)

What a cute idea
hooray! & where is the new pic from at the top of your blog?
The Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. We had a family reunion there in October.
That should have been me, not Ben. Oops.
