Other Mother-y thoughts

Being a new mom makes you eat, drink, pee, and cry more than you ever have in your entire life, and all four things are completely normal.

Seriously. I have almost never been to the doctor without him or her telling me that I don't drink enough. But after Ben was born, I drank and drank and drank and drank (and therefore, peed and peed, and peed, and peed - ha!). I was just thirsty! And I actually had a taste for really cold water, which I never do. I think it was all the crying that made me so thirsty, ha. And as for the appetite, the whole "eating for two" thing is way more applicable when you are nursing a baby than when you are carrying one in your womb! I ate like crazy! And got hungry an hour later. This is one of the best parts about your mom coming to stay for a week or so after you deliver: she makes you food. I definitely missed that when my mom went home.

I agree with the whole eating thing. It's like, ok, no more baby inside me, I don't NEED 3 doughnuts anymore, let's start trying to slim it down. But then for me at about week 5 or six after they were born, I was STARVING! Remember the 'menus' I sent you for breastfeeding moms? Like lunch- an oven stuffer, 3 cups of green beans and half a gallon of milk. And for a snack 3 hours later, eat a cantaloupe. That was a little reassuring though at least. It's funny isn't it?

I thought snack was 30 minutes after lunch? I mean, 3 cups of green beans don't really stick with you, you know? Ha!
