Things you take for granted when you are not pregnant:

1. Brushing your teeth, and even your tongue, without heaving. Let's hope you didn't eat in the too-recent past! I have completely given up on brushing my tongue for now, it is hard enough to brush my back teeth, and if Josh leaves one more glob of toothpaste in the sink, I am probably going to vomit just thinking about it. Not sure why that's so nauseating, but it is. To me.

2. Sleeping through an entire night without a pee break. I gave that one up within about 5 minutes of finding out I was pregnant. They say this improves in the second trimester when the uterus rises above the level of the bladder, and then you start waking up to pee again in the third trimester when there just isn't room for anything anymore, ha. I think that was true with Ben, let's hope it's true again. It's cold in the middle of the night!

3. Zipping and buttoning your pants. All of them, every pair. They all used to fit, I swear they did. Once.

4. Showering without having to rest afterward from the exertion. Sounds pretty dumb, I'm certainly not huge enough yet to complain of fatigue, but man. Showering wears me out.

5. Deciding what you want to eat within a reasonable amount of time, and sticking to that decision even if your food takes more than 37 seconds to prepare. I always want to tell the waiter/waitress at a restaurant, "Bring it really fast or I'll want something different!" but of course that sounds waaaaay too high-maintenance to be ME, so I just keep my mouth shut and ask God to make my stomach want to eat whatever it is I've already ordered. Ha.

Hi Beth..I'm Pete G's sister, and I enjoy reading your blog. Just had to say the whole brushing your teeth thing is the same for me. The first time I threw up (which wasn't until like 18 weeks...though I was nauseous the first 13 or so) happened while brushing my teeth. I cringe every time I brush and sometimes gag seeing globs of toothpaste in the sink! I also had to sit down and take breathers after the shower. These are some humbling times, and I'm glad I got to share some of them with you...haha. Anyway, Congratulations on the upcoming arrival of a 2nd cutie!

This is so fun going on this ride together! :) Ditto on them all. In fact, Shawn cracked up at me the other night because he heard this sound coming from the bathroom (it was me trying to keep my dinner down while brushing my tongue) that he had never heard before...ever....

Don't forget putting on socks without some degree of difficulty. :)
