Sitting down to blog: it's not really procrastination...

...it's more me making myself feel better about the next few weeks. :)

The following is the list of things I have accomplished recently:

*washed, dried, and re-applied (hey, that rhymes) the covers for the infant swing, car seat, bouncy seat, and the baby play mat... and the sheet and mesh/netting for the bassinet
*hit up Jo-Ann's for some foam to make a "mattress" for the bassinet that doesn't crinkle (I do realize that I am sealing my own fate here, and this baby will either pee, poop, or spit a nice soggy mess on my unprotected "mattress" first thing, but I don't care)
*pulled out the breast pump, wiped it all down, sterilized my tubing and breast shields and a couple bottles
*purchased and sterilized two newborn pacifiers (I know, this is a big no-no if you are breastfeeding, but given Ben's sucking issues [do a search for "Notes on Nursing," if you dare], I would have LOVED to have had a couple pacis in the hospital with him... and I didn't want the Soothies brand the hospital has)
*SCRUBBED out the baby bathtub... wow, that was an ordeal...
*packed my hospital bag about halfway: the pump, nursing stuff, chapstick and the like is packed, the baby's coming home stuff is ready to go... but I'm not ready to give up my favorite shorts and t-shirt for the next however many weeks, so my things have yet to be packed
*bought a little Mylicon, just in case

Of course there are still things to do....

*find some infant saline spray - everywhere is out of it, and Ben definitely needed a few squirts in the middle of the night for awhile
*figure out what batteries I might need for the various baby entertainment items, and buy some
*buy a new crib mattress cover, just to have an extra (I bought one yesterday at Target, brought it home, and it's CRINKLY like the bassinet mattress... so back it goes! I have two others that don't crinkle; I know they are out there!)
*add to my cloth diaper stash

And the OB update:

Yesterday's BP was something like 114/78, if I remember correctly... which is the highest it's been so far. If you read my baby updates when I was pregnant with Ben, this would have been an awesome BP for me at this point! I hadn't gained any weight since my last visit, which surprised me but made me happy - as I am 3 pounds away from the most I've ever weighed in my life. :-/ And the old belly measured 35.5 cm, which is slightly small for where I'm at, but again, pretty much right where it should be. Oh! And we played with the ultrasound machine to make sure Little Mister is head-down. And he is. The midwife told me there is really only about a 1% chance that he would turn head-up at this point... which makes me happy. Of course, if he were breech I would be clinging to that 1%!!

And now I am off to shower, while Ben is out running errands with Daddy. Happy Tuesday to y'all!

WOW! You have done a lot! Sitting down to blog is a good way of resting :)! Right? Um, so what can I use as an excuse since I don't really have a reason for resting?

I like the crib mattress pads from Babies R Us. They are the store brand and they are quilted, but waterproof, so no crinkliness (if that's a word!). Check that out. Also, you can buy the store brand of their waterproof pads for the foam "mattress". They are also quilted but waterproof and they are bigger than the lap pad size but smaller than a receiving blanket. I use them underneath the baby's rear and sometimes another under his/her torso and head for all messes that might happen. This prevents me from having to change the crib sheet everytime the baby poops and leaks or spits up. I also use those pads on my changing table on top of the changing pad cover so I don't have to change the colored cover when the baby accidentally poops as I am taking off an already poopy diaper! Does all that make sense? Just my two cents...probably more info or advice than you even wanted...oh wait...you weren't even looking for advice or opinions, were you? Oh well. Take it for what it's worth! I am just a fan of Babies R Us quilted pads/covers.
Good job on all your work! I haven't even completed half of that and most of it I still need to buy because I don't have it anymore!!

Oh, Dana - I'm glad you commented! We had one of the quilted kind from Babies R Us, and then I got a "diaper top" one from Target that I really liked... neither is crinkly. But when I returned to Target to get another diaper top one, they didn't have them, and what I bought was not up to par. :) So I'm glad you reminded me of where we got our first one!

And I used a similar pad for Ben at night - I think it was called a "sheet saver," what I used - I put it under his head for spit-up, and then had another one for the changing table pad! Ha ha, so funny that we COVER the COVER on the changing table...

Have fun picking out new stuff! You can go really girly this time. :)
