Torre spent some fantastic years with the Yanks. I can't help but love him, and his stoic expression, regardless of the situation: an amazing comeback or a crushing defeat. He managed a team of superstars and all of their arrogance, and brought the Yankees to the forefront of everyone's mind when the subject of great baseball teams was broached. He also tolerated the Steinbrenners, and that earns anyone a medal in my book.
Girardi? I don't know much about him. (I haven't watched nearly as much baseball since having kids.) But to me, he's not really a commanding presence. Torre earned the right to be silent; sometimes I want to hear Girardi's voice. When he stands in the dugout during a game, he looks more like a college coach than a professional manager. Of course, this current season suggests that he more than knows what he's doing, and I'm starting to chalk up my misread of his command to the fact that he has a baby face. Ha ha.
Anyway, my real question is this:
Assuming the teams in blue beat out the teams in red, and should both Joes end up in the World Series, as is certainly fathomable, which Joe do you favor? I'm obviously a Yankees fan, so my gut says I'd pull for Girardi, in this (of course) hypothetical scenario. HOWEVER, if the Dodgers pulled it off, hypothetically speaking, of course, how great would it be if Torre got to poke a World Series title into the eye of a Steinbrenner? Managing a team that's not from New York? Pretty great.

My mom and I made this baseball cake for my brother's most recent birthday. You know, the one where he turned still-older-than-me. :)

Wondering what you got in your "spotted box"... was it worth it? Thinking it might be fun to get one but want to see types of things were in it first :)
Honestly, I wasn't super-impressed. There were two body creams/lotions that had leaked (they were in plastic baggies so they didn't get on everything but they were un-usable). There were two hair pieces for little girls that were adorable, but I have boys! :) There was a lip gloss sample that I liked, a really ugly pin, and very small appliqué... OH! There was a bamboo cloth wipe, that was cool. And a cute bookmark. I got the small box, though, and I think they save the good stuff for the big boxes. :) It was a fun treat to get in the mail, anyway.
