100 things about me
...or maybe, 100 random thoughts.
1. I love to sleep.
2. I'm not a very good cook.
3. I do make good peanut butter fudge, but it's simple and it's my uncle's recipe.
4. My favorite color was always, always, always blue... but lately I like green.
5. I am indecisive (see #4).
6. Indecisiveness drives me batty.
7. I love having a pet.
8. I like painting (the wall kind, not the artsy kind).
9. I have become pretty anal about things.
10. I have two degrees; one of them cost about as much as the other one earns in salary.
11. I'm not wild about pie, any kind of pie. Thanksgiving dessert does not excite me.
12. My favorite kind of cake is yellow (not lemon) with chocolate frosting.
13. I love spring because it is such a breath of fresh air after winter, but fall is my favorite season.
14. I have a built-in editing function, and I hate it when stores have improperly punctuated signage.
15. I love to drive stick shift.
16. I have no idea what kind of sports car I would choose, if money were no object. I have very little interest, sadly. I think that's boring of me.
17. I love to play softball.
18. I have a pretty weak upper body. That has always been disappointing.
19. I absolutely love chocolate. I would rather have chocolate than any other kind of candy.
20. I think those Russell Stover or Whitman's boxes of chocolates are the devil's work. It is way too hard to figure out what you are about to pop into your mouth.
21. Salad dressing always gives me GI "issues," yet I continue to eat it.
22. I am a nurse.
23. I am not assertive.
24. My job requires that I be assertive.
25. I absolutely loved my internship in college, and I will probably never get to do anything like that again.
26. I can't stand it when people pretend that everything is fine when it is not fine.
27. I like country music (some), Star Trek, and M*A*S*H. Sue me.
28. My best girl friend lives hundreds of miles away.
29. When I was in high school, I wore clothes that were probably too big for my dad.
30. I went to prom with my best friend's little brother.
31. I am pretty obsessive about things, for example, if I think I made some kind of mistake at work, I will think about it for days on end until I go to work again and can check. And sometimes I can't check, which makes the obsession go on indefinitely... it's awful.
32. I can sleep through anything: my husband coming to bed, the dog whining, wind blowing, loud crashes ....but when Josh's key goes in the door in the morning, I am instantly awake.
33. My favorite date is to a place like Barnes & Noble, where you can spend hours browsing books and/or drinking hot chocolate and eating sinful foods.
34. I HATE IT when people blow off my concerns.
35. I can't stand politics because I love politics, and it gets so frustrating talking about how things are impossible to resolve.... ugh.
36. I have always kind of wanted to live on a farm.
37. I don't enjoy the city.
38. My favorite kind of ice cream is chocolate, but to be honest, ice cream isn't that special for me.
39. I love the New York Yankees, and I have always loved the New York Yankees, and I think it's because my dad loves the New York Yankees.... so back off with your "fairweather fan" and "buying championships" bullcrap. Ha.
40. I sew my own scrub tops.
41. I like to make quilts. And then I don't know what to do with them.
42. The best concert I have ever been to is a Collective Soul concert.
43. One of my pet peeves is pants that are too short.
44. I love having caller ID. And I never don't answer the phone; it's just nice to have some idea who you are going to be talking to.
45. My favorite restaurant is Lone Star. Locally, I settle for Texas Roadhouse. Mmmm.
46. I spoke at my graduation from nursing school.
47. Seventh grade was the worst year of my life. I wish the me I am now could talk to the me I was then.
48. My grandmother Ida smells wonderful, all the time.
49. My grandmother Genny is the most flexible, agreeable person I know.
50. Ten minutes ago I had Carrie Underwoods Before He Cheats stuck in my head; now I have Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire.
51. I love Harry Potter. I actually tried to read it aloud to my husband to get him to like it too.
52. I am a task-oriented person. I love to finish projects and get rid of them.
53. When my husband is sick, I will still kiss and hug him. I don't worry about getting sick.
54. I have fired a Glauck. And I did better than the boys at hitting the target (no kidding).
55. When I was in ninth grade running indoor track, I actually made a point to wear tall socks scrunched down because I thought that looked better than my scrawny ankles. So sad.
56. My all-time heaviest weight was in tenth grade. That was ten years ago, weird.
57. I like pumpkin bread but not pumpkin pie.
58. I once did the invocation at the Rochester Sportswoman of the Year Award Banquet.
59. I think golf is a stupid sport and I don't understand football. Well, I get the basics.
60. My biggest fear is losing my husband in the line of duty.
61. I sleep with a stuffed animal when Josh is working nights.
62. I think breakfast is a fun food to eat out. Unfortunately, I'm never hungry enough for all that food.
63. I have lived in three different states.
64. I have been to Canada, Costa Rica, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, and Liechtenstein. Costa Rica totally broadened my horizons as far as food choices go.
65. I grew up near the Atlantic Ocean, but I never saw the Pacific until I was 21.
66. My favorite vacation ever was the first one I took with Josh, to Kure Beach, NC.
67. One of the rudest things a person can do is ignore someone.
68. I am paralyzed by intense levels of stress; it takes me a long time to get moving and start working to eliminate the stressor(s).
69. They say you should only keep mascara for three months. I have had mine for three years.
70. My favorite number was 6 until I learned that three of those is the mark of the beast. So, I changed my favorite number to 4. Heh.
71. I see no reason to drink.
72. I think smoking is exceptionally stupid, with all we know about how it affects the body.
73. I used to looooove running. Now, well - not so much. I mean, I miss it, but it's so much work.
74. Hawaiian pizza is by far my absolute #1.
75. If I could change one thing about my wedding, I would. But I'd stick with the same groom. :)
76. Grumpy patients like me.
77. If I hear one more person say that they think nurses should go back to wearing whites and their caps, I shall scream.
78. I hate trying to pick a favorite book or a favorite movie. They're all so different; it's like comparing apples to oranges to pineapple to kiwi to pears.........
79. I hate going to the video store.
80. I like to shop for clothes but I always feel weird about spending money. My favorite birthday gift was cash for a little spree. It was so carefree.
81. This is getting really long. Really long blogs occasionally lose my interest.
82. When I was about four, my brother told me his germs were "worser" than mine. I was pretty smart, see, I agreed.
83. They say I sat on a hot grill when I was a kid. I don't know if I believe that. I don't think there's any proof.
84. Oh, one of my HUGEST pet peeves is when I type out a whole email (or blog) and it somehow or other gets lost. Ay yi yi, I could scream.
85. I think our current health care system is 1) out of control, and 2) unethical in many ways.
86. I want to have three children.
87. I had a really mean chemistry teacher in high school who told us, "I make $41,000/year whether you pass or fail, so I really don't care." I didn't do too hot in that class.
88. I got a D in English in tenth grade, twice, and then proceeded to get a 5 on the AP English exam. Heh.
89. I took four years of French in high school and have never, ever used it. I lived in Costa Rica for five weeks and can speak more Spanish than French.
90. I think I would like to go to Hawaii someday. Just to do it. I hear it is very commercialized, though, and I don't know if it would be worth the THOUSANDS it'd take to finance a trip like that.
91. I think it is worth investing in good furniture. Especially the kind you are unlikely to ever buy again.
92. I have played every position on the field except third base.
93. I played the clarinet from 5th - 11th grade, and in the staff/student Christmas concert (as a staff person) two years ago.
94. I like to throw away duplicate things; you know, eliminate the excess.
95. I have zero creativity. I am a creature of habit.
96. I like to make people feel comfortable.
97. I give a lot of compliments.
98. My dog likes my husband better than me and I am secretly jealous. Not anymore, though!
99. I was the MVP of my high school field hockey team. I got a recruitment letter from UVM. I haven't played since.
100. I'm happy to be done with this and ask someone else to do it next!

Ah, yes: the inability to turn off one's mental grammar check. I have that too.
Don't ever eat at this restaurant.
