Goodbye, Juno, goodbye.

OK, so today I open up my Firefox window, up comes my homepage (www.juno.com), and I type in my username and password. I get an error message. Thinking I'd typed the password incorrectly (my username auto-fills), I retype my password. Again. And again. And again. Finally I click the "Forgot your password?" link. It suggests I send Juno an email requesting my password. It goes on to say IF you are requesting your password from a non-Juno account (and I have no idea how one could submit an email from the account about which one is writing to ask for his password; OF COURSE it's coming from a different account), then you need to provide your username and PIN. In the event that you do not have a PIN, you can create one now; however, please note that you will need your password to create a PIN.

Have I typed you in circles? This is ridiculous! How could I possibly provide Juno with the missing password in order to get a PIN in order to email Juno asking for my password? (The password which, by the way, I really should mention, I have not forgotten!)

I have no idea why or how my password could possibly have been changed. I can't comprehend that Juno is asking me to, in effect, provide my password in order for them to email me my password. What I do understand quite clearly is that I am fed up. I have maintained an email account with Juno since 1997, when I created my first one ever. I have used Juno as a program loaded onto various computers, I have used Juno as WebMail, I have logged into Juno from various states... and although I have never been particularly impressed with Juno as a whole, for years it has met my email needs, and I have maintained it for that reason.

Juno's free internet service no longer meets my needs. Over the past year or so, I have noticed a sharp spike in the number of junk emails I get, running the gammit from online dating services to political groups begging me to email my senators. I have irritatedly tried to block various form emails only to find out that they are from Juno-sponsored companies and cannot be blocked. Today's little password scenario is the final straw. Goodbye, Juno, goodbye. I'd send y'all the mass email with my new address... but my address book full of countless contacts is LOCKED IN MY JUNO ACCOUNT WHICH IS NO LONGER ACCEPTING MY PASSWORD.

That is craziness. I still have my juno account even though I have a new gmail account and account on the church server. Truth be told, I am just too lazy to switch the address book over!
